PAQUITA

Paquita is a two act ballet set in Spain during the Napoleonic Wars, based on the story by Paul Foucher and Joseph Mazilier. It tells the love story between a French Officer and a Spanish gypsy, Paquita.

The Grand Pas Classique within it is a showpiece in its own right and is often performed in competitions.

First performed in 1846 at the Salle Le Peletier, Paris, the choreography is by Joseph Mazilier and music by Edouard Deldevez.
